In 1984, the county began construction of the two story Fire Training Academy Building which also houses the Department of Emergency Services offices, the 9-1-1 public safety telecommunications center, the County emergency operating center and the Public Service Electric & Gas News Center.


A masonry two story building was constructed in 1986 for SCBA and Search & Rescue, the Class A Burn Building was Dedicated in 1997. The confined space prop and SCBA Confidence Maze were added during 2008. The expansion of the facility continues with the addition of two railcars and planned addition of cargo tank trailers and various LP gas fired props. The Academy apparatus fleet currently has three (3) engines and a fully equipped BLS ambulance.
